It was a rain-kissed mountain elopement for Jessica & Sean’s Canmore + Kananaskis adventure.

There was something so magical about the wildflowers dancing under misty mountain skies — that’s exactly what unfolded when Jessica and Sean chose to tie the knot in the wild beauty of Canmore and Kananaskis this July. Their lakeside elopement was playful, intimate, and perfectly them: laid-back, real, and deeply connected.

It was between bursts of gentle rain, we explored meadows full of wildflowers, their laughter echoing amid pine-lined peaks, and lakeshores that reflected their love back at them while fish jumped and sun warmed us. The changing light, the soft patter of raindrops, and the mountain air added the fresh, honest energy to every image, so authentic and true to them that you can almost feel the cool breeze and hear the water lapping, just by looking.

Jessica and Sean reached out to me, with little planning (and rightfully so) because they wanted their celebration to be about them. Not about a big show or grand ballroom, lots of people or time away from one another. It was about two people who love adventure and each other, who don’t sweat the details or stiff poses, and who wanted their story told in a way that actually feels like them. So right from the first email, I knew that spending an afternoon showing them some beautiful spaces to revisit as life goes on, touring dirt road mountain roads on our way into the mountains and supporting them in choosing each other, I knew it was a match made for me. That’s exactly the kind of couples I love working with: spontaneous, intentional and deeeeeeeply present.
