What if you had time and space to simply, just be, with your partner on your wedding day?

When we create space in your timeline for a first look, you're guaranteed that space. Caitlin + Erik ended up opting to do one, in a perfect spot down the street from their accommodation before their ceremony and they are some of the softest moments between them from their day. It doesn't always work to have a separate location worked in for all the photos you choose to have after your ceremony, and in turn it doesn't always leave space for just the two of you (I mean we got both on this day) but having a space around the corner to have tunnel vision and take it all in together, without the audience is something I always suggest. I'd choose a first look everyyyyyy time.

What if, in between all of the rest of the moments in your day, I showed up giving you the permission to be just as you are? No judgement or expectation. To simply have the space to show up as you are with all the experiences of your past together bringing you into the moment you're in?

Jumping back to July in the summer of 2023, tucked into the trees and among the mountains, this day with Brittany + Tyson still feels fresh to me 18 months later. But part of the hardest thing to do when it comes to sharing images from days like this, days celebrating people who love eachother and the curation of their wedding- is narrowing down the best images.

Well shit they're all the best. Here's to sharing some of my favorite digital and film photos from their day. The other hard part about creating posts that's new to me since learning how to block work for my brain, is taking time away from other tasks to block time and create posts like this. Brain bending and trying to always be doing the best I can while wearing all the different hats of a business owner, and navigating how my brain responds to them is suchhhhhh an ongoing lesson especially as I get back into sharing such beautiful, sweet moments. So anywayyy here's a post I'm so excited to share ✨️

Bet you don't know how much I missed you.

I hope you're all so well and that life has been treating you so kindly with heaps of joy and light. I've thought and thought and thought some more about what, and how to share with you where I've been and what has been going on in my world, but if I could share absolutely anything with you after the last 12 months, it's the reminder that life has a way of requiring you to slow down, and ultimately make you listen more closely to your body regardless of if you know how to, want to, or not.

This time last year, I was savoring a summer full of much of my favorite work to date and taking my time deciding what to share here with you and how to simply do justice to each celebration, connection and couple. I was beginning to wind down into what some call our "off season" as photographers and was taking off to Mexico for my last wedding of 2023 with friends and a week in the sun. My body and mind were so excited for warmth, laughter, tequila and dancing under that great big sun before a wedding that changed the course of how I was forced to listen to my mind and body over the following 12 months. It didn't take long for the universe to have other plans for me once we landed though. One day, one excursion and one freak accident later I took a fall that pushed listening and healing my brain to the forefront of everything that's taken place over the last year. Or maybe it forced the abscense of most everything else. Simply it's been a long, and slow, quiet last 365 days full of healing and listening since I hit my head. More than anything it's been a reminder to take care of what matters and that's my health.You'd think after growing up with concussions a plenty that having another would mean maybe having a grasp on how to heal myself, but the truth is, brains are beautiful and even more beautifully individual in their healing. And mine has required a lot of energy and time to come to a space of understanding how it's shaped the way I show up in all spaces.

2023 has been looking and feeling like the best year yet and it's because every year I feel like I get to photograph more and more pals. Josh + Madds day was the kick off to my summer season, and a wedding I've been waiting for since tenth grade. Josh is one of my oldest, greatest friends and he and his groomsmen are people I grew up getting into some shit with. What A DAY. Thank you for the start of my best year and a season with more film than I've ever shot.

It's been weeks and I haven't been able to stop thinking about how hugely important it is to surround yourself with your people on the day you choose to celebrate your way, just as Karlee + Gordie did. 8 years later and I still cry on my way home after weddings, and this couple and their people were no different. So many great people celebrating these two!

Also lollllll at all the posting I need and want to do, none have any social media managers they wanna fire over? 😅

Ohhhh bless my heart on their actual day and now, 365 days later thinking about how Miranda + Patrick chose one another amidst all their favorites and chosen family. On a warm summer evening in August last summer, Jessica and Hal ventured to meet me at Barrier Lake to celebrate their engagement in an intimate and personalized way. The stunning glacier lake provided the perfect place for their elopement-style session, as the waves gently rolled up on the rocks, and the wind blew through the grass, creating a quiet setting to settle into one another--- see their entire session on the blog.

It was a Friday evening in July, the weather acted as though it was forecasted just for them, and their immediate family stood and listened as the promised forever.

The night before Heather + Justin's ceremony, we headed out to their favorite place to walk their dog Sadie, and found the perfect bridge and creek to return to the next night.

Mosquitos buzzing, and not another soul around, the ten of us headed to that spot just for them and took our time as I officiated while crying, to soak in the magic of what was happening.

Thank you for being my muse, for allowing me into your space, and for having a love like you do. Justin, thank you for holding my sisters heart so tenderly and for being the best brother in law to add to our wild family after all these years- what the heck I you guys how is my little sister married?!

Hard to believe this was just night one of two celebrating your newest, biggest step together. XO

Summer 2019 had no idea that the next six months would have one of them in the car driving 7 hours round trip to spend the weekend, every weekend. Jeanette + Remington's day was outstandingly them. Centered around them and all the closest ones to them, on his childhood yard overlooking the Rocky Mountains, celebrating exactly who they are and the world series kind of love they have. From the deepest parts of my country and outdoor loving, small town, windows down heart- thank you for having me.

It was mid July and Melissa was pregnant here- we photographed their announcement later at the reception. Now she is just weeks away from her due date and we photographed her lil bump before I was jet set in December. How sweet, precious and adored she is by all the beautiful people who surround her and by me. Thank you for always trusting me to hold space for your celebrations babe.

Raise your hand if you've ever been personally victimized by Google maps? 🙋‍♀️

As a photographer and a smalltown someone who likes to often take the long way home, I've done a lot of backroad driving and am always more than trusting of good ol Google maps simply getting me where tf I need to go, and in time. But this evening with Michaela + Brogan was a little different haha.

So picture this- it's the beginning of October and I'm headed East towards Stettler where Google was leading me in regards to a pin they'd sent me for where we were going to meet on Brogans family land in the country to shoot their engagement session, nothing out of the ordinary. I arrived what was about 10 minutes early, and as I rolled up to a cattle gate and approach into a gorgeous field, I messaged and said I was there for waiting. Moments later I got a reply from Mich saying something to the affect of, "Oh! Where?" I knew I was fcked.

Hurry set in knowing how quickly the light changes during this time of year and hoped that refreshing the pin would show I was only around the corner from where I was to meet them. I was so wrong hahah, the map still said I was in the right place, and upon receiving a live location from them, realized I was almost 40 minutes from them and the spot that meant a lot for the session. I instantly reverted to twelfth grade Beth, pinned it to speedy limits and hummed down the backroads to meet them not twenty minutes later 😅

After meeting them out on a main road, I followed them to a yard and we all but got started shortly after and man did we make the most of the evening together capturing some of my all time favorite moments of my 2022 season. To add, no I don't believe gear is everything, so far from it as I only started with a full frame last season, but having mirrorless gear that so beautifully captures low light is a GIFT because without I would have been legit shitting my pants in the realization that we would be losing light extra quickly. Alas, practice, experience, gear and a process that allows my couples to step right into the session with comfort and fun, being seen, yields images just like this.

So jacked for everything their day will be!

Ill try to keep this brief buttttt now that I'm home from a few work trips away, one of those celebrating Ryan + Emily *pictured here with all the lol's* from this past summer and reminiscing pretty hard.

July evenings outrunning mosquitos down by the river, basking in all the outpouring of sun and laughter, dreaming up all that life is together- bringing me further along to their elopement in the mountains with five others in December, and then to their celebration in Panama these past weeks. I'm just really really fkn in this with you and for you- regardless of what that looks like.

I know I've been quiet on here but I've been busy on the flip side and I just really want to take such good care of what I have and foster room for all that is coming. These days, these people and all the bazillion others that make me feel the big feels will be shared over the next few weeks. No rhyme or reason, but just to share these images with you and for them. Every image called home has been passed through my hands and heart multiple times- and I can't wait to share this summers work and little pieces of me with you choosing to be here. xxxx

Well 2022 summer season- that's a wrap. Between crying on my way out to Rem's family homestead way south of the city on the most gorgeous fall day, to witnessing these two and their closest celebrate all day, and thinking about all the amazing moments I got to be apart of- I literally cried all day in my car haha. I guess that's the reality of always being around big emotions, learning how to always hold room for someone else's best day ever and truly in my heart be so fucking happy for them I cry. 2022 weddings are wrapped but wow there is still so much work going on and my heart is overrrrrrflowing ending it this way; with people I've grown to know and love at so many weddings I've shot for their group over 4 years overlooking the valley he grew up in.

I don't have much to share here in the caption other than tomorrow is my last wedding of the season and it feels really bittersweet. Posting these black and whites from Jen + Jordan's because I mean just look at them- know that behind the scenes work is agoin and galleries are being perfected before they come home to you!

This has been my session uniform since August so catch me in it again tonight shooting one of my 2023 couples engagements but that's all I have energy to use on a caption- byeee!

This lil noggin of mine had been face down arse up the last few weeks trying to keep up with everything outside of shooting and I have so so much to share from this summer. The best summer with sessions like this one, with the best people celebrating exactly how feels best to them.

A whole damn year already since one of my favorite days in Canmore with the coolest crew. Really really I mean that. Bri and I started chatting months ago and had been planning their honeymoon session for just 3 days after they got married out in Ontario! Now I've been around the excitement and feeling of newness when it comes to freshly engaged couples, but FRESHLY MARRIED takes that to the next level. Here always for helping to plan, tour guide, chauffeur, and show you a night that's all about you two and your love in places that make you go !!!!!!!!

Have you been waiting since Friday to see these? Well I've been waiting to post Annika + Blake, but paired with the out of town travel, seeing some friends in my old college town and being a tired little panda (not to mention the crippling feelings that come along with posting for the first time in a while) they're finally here!

What a day, what a vision, what a group of people and what a celebration 🤗 these two are always a dream to photograph and I just can't believe their day finally came and went. Can't wait to blog this baby 🥰

We hadn't ever met, and began the day jumping right into a first look and portraits which can be some of the most intimate moments of the day- they met me with laughter, grace and ready to take this day on together as I watched it unfold. So when I say my intimate mountain wedding with Arielle + Zach from a few weeks ago has really set the tone for the kind of people, places and experiences I have coming my way this summer and I am GRATEFUL.

Hard to believe engagement sessions for my wedding couples next summer are in full swing while simultaneously shooting all my 2022 weddings, whaddddaaaa fkn dream.

2 weeks into my season and the people I've spent it with have left my heart so full- SO grateful.
