Boho Western Wedding | Central Alberta Wedding Photographer | Erika + Colt

I remember meeting Erika for the first time at a Boston Pizza for a ceasar and to chat, and upon meeting we realized that for as small as my (our) hometown area is, we knew of one another in a roundabout way- so it made complete sense when we hit it off and chatted for over an hour about dogs, weed, being outdoors and eyebrows haha.

Not long later, I met Colt the day we decided to shoot their engagement session (at his parents homestead and on their private ranching land) + seeing they're partnership gave me shivers and did again on their wedding day. These two are ying and yang and I've never been a part of something that made so much sense. You could just feel it; shooting skeet with the boys that morning, dogs in every aspect of the day and said I do in her mom's backyard on the farm. They took photos with her horses, smoked a j in front of an old creepy church in the late summer sun, + danced the night away at the Stampede Grounds in Ponoka, AB.

I just wanted to say something that I think is noteworthy; on this particular Saturday in September I had flown home late the night before from shooting an elopement in Las Vegas just the day before that. I feel like it's worth mentioning for the simple fact that late nights, driving, planning and all the time that goes into planning, and photographing weddings, is almost entirely unavoidable. When I arrived the morning of Erika + Colt's wedding, I showed up not only at their home to see the boys but also later to the location where the girls were getting ready, I was asked about my trip, about the crazy things and stories that ensured, how my flights were, the drive, and if I needed a coffee, joint or tylenol.

Something magical happens when we relax and trust in each other to just be there and be present for one another- and I promise I will always do that to the best of my ability because that's what you deserve. I never want to fabricate moments, or create something that is not true to who you are. Be you, celebrate how feels best to you and know that there is the freedom to live perfectly present on your wedding day. Being met with the same ease, care and just true excitement to enjoy the moments exactly for what they are was really next level and I so hope to do the same on your wedding day.

This wedding will sit in my soul so long I swear. The kind of day and people I'll never get over, and the most beautiful boho western wedding Ponoka has ever ever seen.
