Sunny Celebration Nestled in the Trees | Central Alberta Wedding Photographer | Kelsey + Braedan

If you’ve ever experienced summer in Medicine Hat, Alberta… you know the heat doesn’t mess around.
Kelsey and Braedan’s wedding day landed right in the middle of it, a full 35 degrees of sunshine, prairie air, and the kind of heat that has everyone reaching for cold drinks before noon. But somehow it just made the day feel even more alive. No one slowed down, and honestly, the celebration started early and never really stopped.
Their day began at the very first home they purchased together, which is a place already full of memories and now forever tied to the start of their marriage and where they've since welcomed their first born son. Friends filled the house, laughter spilled out into the front yard, and their wedding party alone could’ve passed for a small event. With so many close friends standing beside them, the whole morning felt less like formal wedding prep and more like the best kind of gathering. Knowing Kelsey for over a decade, and being my best friend through college, I'm talking attached at the hip for everything, being around her family this day made my heart feel a certain kind of nostalgia and love for everyone involved.
One of the most meaningful parts of the day came during the ceremony, not only did the whole event take place on a family friends land, but when Kelsey’s brother stepped up as officiant. There’s something incredibly special about someone who knows you that deeply standing there with you, guiding you into the next chapter of your life, her one older sibling (who I also got to know and adore as my own 'older brother' type). Everyone watched with huge smiles on their faces — the kind of smiles that come from knowing exactly how much these two mean to each other.
People travelled from near and far to be there, and you could feel that energy all day long. The celebration didn’t pause after the ceremony either — it simply shifted gears.
Enter: the party bus.
The wedding party piled in for happy hour drives around Medicine Hat, music up, and laughs/drinks spilling about through the bus. It was one of those moments where you could feel the freedom of the day — no rigid timeline, just friends celebrating friends.
And when it came time for the grand entrance later that evening… things took a turn in the best possible direction.
Smirnoff Ices were handed out, speeches were kicked off with Fireball, and the entire reception immediately felt like the party everyone had been building toward since early that morning. The kind where stories get louder, dance floors fill faster, and the joy never really dips.
As a Central Alberta wedding photographer, these are the moments I love most. TRULY not the perfectly posed ones, but the real ones. The sweaty summer afternoons, the spontaneous cheers, the laughter on a party bus, and the way a space fills with energy when people who love you most gather together.
Kelsey and Braedan, your Medicine Hat summer wedding was unforgettable in every, single, way — the heat, the people, the celebration, and the love that stitched it all together.
Thank you for letting me be there to document it exactly as it happened.
The whole day, Kelsey, a MUA herself, felt so beautiful thanks to Kassie with Wild Flower and Honey Studio.and as a friend, I was so glad she felt as beautiful as she looked.
