Intimate Two Day Wedding Celebration | Central Alberta Wedding Photographer | Heather + Justin

This two day intimate July wedding with Heather and Justin took place just outside their Central Alberta hometown was a quiet, heartfelt celebration focused on what mattered most- their love, family, and presence. Over two days, their wedding unfolded naturally, beginning with an immediate-family ceremony and growing into a meaningful gathering of just a handful more of loved ones. As a Central Alberta wedding photographer, being invited into moments like these, the ones that are so real, emotional, and entirely their own, is exactly why I do what I do.

It was a Friday evening in July, and the weather showed up like it had been planned just for them. The kind of summer night that feels soft and golden and full of all the things they love most. Immediate family stood close, listening as Heather and Justin promised each other forever and more, and everything about it felt exactly right. Truly the world got so quiet as we took it all in next to a small creek.

The night before their ceremony, we wandered out to one of their favourite places- the spot they walk their dog Sadie, a place already woven into their everyday life. We found a little bridge over a quiet creek and knew instantly we’d be back the next night. It felt like one of those moments that just settles into place.

And so we did.

Mosquitos buzzing, no one else around, just ten of us tucked into that quiet space as the sun dipped low. We took our time. There was no rush, no pressure, just presence. Everyone soaked in the weight and beauty of what was happening. It was intimate in the truest sense. Real, unfiltered, and a day that would forever be so deeply theirs.

As a photographer, when someone asks me to simply show up not to stage or direct, but to witness and document things exactly as they unfold, because they’re your moments, not a performance-- thats where the good shit lives.

Hard to believe this was only night one of two. Hear more about day two of their celebrations after the day one photos below.

The following day, their celebration grew just slightly, about 30 people total. Still so intimate, still intentional, still grounded in the same warmth that defined the night before. It felt less like a wedding and more like a gathering of hearts that had known and loved them for a long time. Their trailer set up as the open bar, a first dance tucked into the cozy space between the trees and food from Lacombe local, Milly Oak, and simple florals from the ever incredible Dutchess Florals.

Heather, Justin, thank you for being my muses, for letting me into your space, and for trusting me with something so sacred.

A dreamy weekend spent photographing moments as sweet as them was something I hope to do more of, so if you're looking for a Central Alberta photographer to call your own, please reach out for traditional coverage, or something a bit more you if one day isn't quite enough. Head over here and let's get the conversation started.
