Elizabeth and Josh’s Alberta wedding was a heartfelt celebration on her family farm, blending meaningful East Coast heritage with a relaxed sunset tent reception, a lot of party vibes and views that felt like home all day. From golden-hour portraits under open prairie skies to fireworks lighting up the night, their wedding day was filled with joy, connection, and so many unforgettable moments. As a Central Alberta wedding photographer, documenting celebrations like this, the ones deeply personal, joy-filled, and rooted in place- is always the biggest honour.
There’s something really special about getting married in a place that already holds so much meaning. For Elizabeth and Josh, that place was her family farm in Central Alberta, wide open skies, familiar land, and a whole lot of love woven into every part of the day.
From the moment I arrived, it felt less like a formal wedding and more like the very best kind of gathering. The kind where everyone knows everyone, laughter comes easily, and the focus is exactly where it should be- celebrating two people who are wildly loved. They chose to hire an incredible wedding planner from the Central Alberta region, Nicole Louise Events, based out of Edmonton, and she was instrumental in accommodating time, space, and setting for all the unfoldings to be so beautiful and well timed.
Elizabeth and Josh’s wedding day was full of thoughtful touches that reflected who they are, including beautiful nods to Josh’s East Coast roots. You could feel it in the way people showed up for them, in the stories shared throughout the day, and in the energy that carried right through the reception with some traditional jigs from Canadas far East. This wasn’t just about tradition for tradition’s sake, it was about creating a day that felt honest, joyful, and entirely them.
As the sun dipped lower over the fields across from the reception, the farm and tent absolutely glowed. That soft, golden Alberta light wrapped around them during portraits, and honestly… it was magic and everything I know couples dream of. One of those Central Alberta sunsets that never disappoints and makes farm weddings feel extra special. Those quiet moments together, surrounded by land that means so much to Elizabeth’s family, were some of my favourites of the entire day.
Their tent wedding reception struck the perfect balance between laid-back and celebratory. Twinkle lights and greenery overhead, cold beer flowing on a custom old truck tap, heartfelt speeches that brought both laughter and a few happy tears, it all felt warm, welcoming, and full of life like the late August night it was. The dance floor filled quickly, shoes were abandoned early, and the joy just kept building as the evening went on.
And then came the fireworks. A full-on, light-up-the-sky ending that somehow managed to be both emotional and wildly fun. Watching Elizabeth and Josh soak it all in, surrounded by their favourite people on the farm where so many memories already live, was one of those moments that stays with you long after the night ends.
Elizabeth and Josh, your Central Alberta farm wedding was such a gift to photograph. Thank you for trusting me to document such a meaningful day, from icing your grooms friends, the ceremony against the caragana's, the sunset portraits to the fireworks finale. Your wedding was full of heart, laughter, and so much love, and I’m beyond grateful to have been there to capture it all.
"Beth, even two years after our wedding in 2023... I’m instantly brought right back to that day. I can feel the love, the joy, the emotion, all of it....and it speaks so deeply to the way you capture moments, not just images.
You were always effortlessly there. Calm, grounding, and so present without ever being intrusive.
You somehow managed to capture the most beautiful posed shots while also catching all the candid, in-between moments, the ones we didn’t even realize were happening but now mean everything to us.
Having you by our side that day felt like having someone who truly cared about us and our story.
You were such a blessing, and I am endlessly thankful we chose you. To anyone on the fence about hiring Beth, you will not regret it. She captures love in a way that lets you feel it all over again, years later."
